Hearts in Atlantis | Wizard Rating:

Hmmm, what we have here folks is a little bit o' nostalgic flashback enducing old time goodness -- when little boys were innocent and their momies were not. This movie is about an Bobby -- an 11 year old boy growing up in the 1950's. His selfish dumb-ass bitch whore mother (Hope Davis) "can't afford" to buy him anything. He really wants a shiny new bike for his birthday, but all his mom can do is go shopping for expensive dresses and give him a library card.

Anthony Hopkins plays his usual type cast Hannibal self -- minus the brain eating. Hannibal befriends Bobby and pays him lots of money to "read the newspaper" for him because of his "failing eyes." He ends up spending lots of time alone in the attic with the young boy, and eventually the young boy's young girlfriend too. Naturally when the whore bitch finds him with the young girl's shirt off, she gets a little worried and throws him out of the house. Immagine that!

Eventually Hopkins teaches Bobby everything he needs to know about life and becomes a father figure for him. He's able to do this because he has psychic powers and is being followed by secret agents who want to abduct him and bend him to do their evil bidding -- like fighting commies and figuring out how to get longer coffee breaks.
