Max Payne | Wizard Rating:

This is a great game. The best game I have ever played. Seriously. This game took four years to create, and it shows. Everything is destructible. You can shoot everything! Wood splinters, glass shatters or takes a bullet hole, depending on the shot range and location, metal makes a dented hole, tile fragments....sinks and toilets break apart, water coolers spout water -- everything has a programmed reaction to a bullet. Everything breaks differently depending on the weapon you are using. It's the best part of the game. The detail.

The whole game looks like a movie. Every scene is photo-realistic. Men have faces. Guns have serial numbers. Dead bodies stay there forever. Shell casings stay on the ground forever. Bullet holes stay forever. Blood goes everywhere. It's all good.

There are a few problems with the game, however. Areas to be improved upon. Some levels are stupid. One of them is a tedious dream sequence that invovles running around in a maze till you happen upon the exit. Another level is the basically the same, with different graphics. Another involves running through a burning building before the fire kills Max. All three seem like levels that were added in after the fact. They don't belong in this game and they are not any fun at all. What's fun is shooting bad guys and watching the bullets destoy everything. Running through a boring stupid-ass maze is not fun.

Oh, and I'd love to see a sequel where the bad guys can have their arms and heads blown off...or get shot in the arm and start complaining about it. Oh well, guess we can't have it all...just yet! This is by far the most detailed and entertaining shooter I've ever seen. Get the demo and buy it now...if you know what's good for ya!

American McGee's Alice | Wizard Rating:

A great concept. Innocent little alice in her white apron running around in her own little dark acid trip world. This time it's a real acid trip -- complete with a psychotic, mangy, emaciated looking Cheshire Cat and tattered White Rabbit. The twisted, dark humor and smooth, saturated images will keep you entertained for hours.

Alice, now older, is the lone survivor of a house fire that kills her family. She's stuck in an asylum and must regain her own sanity by returning to the madcap Wonderland she visited as a child. She's a darker person now, and, perhaps consequently, Wonderland is correspondingly dark.

Sims | Wizard Rating:

This is a great game for bored housewives with a dwindling sense of personal importance and children. If you are a control freak this just might do the trick for you too. In this never ending game is addictive. Start with nothing, build a character, get him a job, then start saving and spending your money on all sorts of things in the simulated world. Talke to neighbors, buy a fancy toilet, whatever rocks your boat.
